(Don, with his wife, Cindy, supervise a volunteer group that is building a church in Tijuana, Mexico)
Don earned his living as a plumber and carpenter. He, and his wife Cindy, began accompanying their church family on short-term missions and soon fell in love with the people of Mexico. Now, after supervising many teams in the construction of houses and churches in and around Tijuana, Don is becoming ministry-equipped through TUMI. His goal is no longer just to build buildings but to plant churches!
When asked, “Why TUMI?” Don shares that “what TUMI does is provide an organized program that teaches theology in an organized fashion, the goal being not just to acquire knowledge and the ability to converse or debate about biblical subjects but to have a changed heart.” Don wants to see TUMI classes expand to Mexico. “The need is great,” he says, “and we don't have the time or resources to send everyone to six years of college to pastor a church. We can take people who have a heart for ministry and give them the basic tools of ministry and provide a foundation for further learning in a very short time for a very low cost. TUMI classes are preparing me for whatever aspect of church planting in Mexico the Lord has planned for me.”
